The invitation to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to address the OIC Organisation Of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) plenary meeting of Foreign Ministers as a guest of honour comes 50 years after India was denied entry to the organisation. Former Ambassador Talmiz Ahmad discusses whether it implies a larger change for India, Pakistan’s anti-India resolutions and the possible implication that Saudi Arabia and the UAE will push through changes in the forum’s membership, the historical context and how New Delhi can gain from a changed, vibrant organisation.
