‘India Needs To Stay The Course With The U.S., Negotiate’

India should not get involved in any process between the U.S. and Iran, says Arun K Singh, former ambassador to the United States. In a chat with SNI post the Pompeo visit, Singh warned that Delhi should not end up being blamed if such efforts fail. In his view, Trump’s tweets on India’s tariffs shortly after Pompeo’s visit were basically directed at his constituency. But trade is an issue between the two countries given India’s small surplus, which is absurd since overall India runs a trade deficit. Trump’s refusal to concede any ground to India is only shrinking the numbers of America’s friends and allies.
