Big Diplomatic Win For India As World Court Says Pak Violated Vienna Convention

India’s quest to get justice for former Navy officer Kulbhushan Jadhav has received a major boost, with the International Court of Justice (ICJ) staying Jadhav’s execution and concluding that Pakistan did violate provisions of the Vienna Convention by not giving India consular access to Jadhav despite repeated requests. Pakistan says Jadhav is an Indian spy who was arrested in Balochistan after he illegally crossed over from Iran. India contests this, saying Jadhav was kidnapped by Pakistani elements from Iran where he owned a business. So what does the ICJ verdict mean? SNI’s Editor-in-Chief has more.
