COLOMBO: In his election manifesto, he had spelt them out as his top priorities and now after having taken over as Sri Lanka’s President, Gotabaya Rajapaksa has a vision on how to go about things. Security and economy are my top priorities, he told Nitin A. Gokhale, Editor-in-Chief of and SNI, in his first interview after assuming office. Pointing out slippages in the security structure under the earlier regime that led to the ghastly Easter bombings in April this year, the man who played a key role in strategising the war that ultimately led to the defeat of the LTTE terrorist group, believes intelligence gathering has to be streamlined and each agency involved in the process should be given a clear role and authority.
