Trump’s Kashmir Comment: ‘If Pak Brings It Up During PM’s Expected UN Visit, We Know How To Handle’

No resonance for Pakistan’s pursuit of its solo goal of (mediation on Jammu and Kashmir), India Permanent Representative at the UN Syed Akbaruddin tells SNI Associate Editor Amitabh P Revi in this exclusive interview from New York. He also says India’s experienced diplomats know how to handle the issue, if Pakistan brings it up during the Prime Minister’s expected visit during the UN General Assembly session in September. In the first part of the interview, Ambassador Akbaruddin adds, ‘There is no conceivable situation that PM Modi said what was attributed to him by President Donald Trump publicly during the meeting with Pakistan PM Imran Khan. The envoy also called the Pakistani futile attempt to bring up J&K at the NAM meet in Caracas, Venezuela this week as one-trick ponies attempting the same trick repeatedly.
Prior to his assignment as the Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations, Ambassador Akbaruddin was the Chief Coordinator of the India-Africa Forum Summit held in October 2015 in New Delhi. He was Official Spokesperson of India’s Ministry of External Affairs during 2012-2015. He has served at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the mission in Islamabad, as Consul General, Jeddah and in Cairo.
