‘ISIS Message To The World—We Can Avenge Christchurch Massacre’

It turned out to be a bloody and tragic Easter Sunday in neighbouring Sri Lanka when numerous explosions carried out by suicide bombers rocked churches and luxury hotels, leaving over 300 people dead and scores injured. Even as the death count continues to rise, the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attacks on Tuesday. In this chat with SNI’s Deputy Editor Parul Chandra, Col. R. Hariharan (retd), who was the head of intelligence of the IPKF (Indian Peace Keeping Force) in Sri Lanka, says with these strikes, the Islamic State has reached India’s underbelly. He also notes that the Lankan government has been very careful to not speak about extremism as it fears it may not be able to check it.
