Home As We Heard UN’s Preoccupation With Africa

UN’s Preoccupation With Africa

Remember the Nigerian General Olusegun Obasanjo, who was president from 1999 to 2007. He served as a young lieutenant in the Congo as part of the UN peacekeeping force in 1963. In 2016, he returned to that country as UN envoy, and the peacekeepers are still there. The United Nations preoccupation with Africa has reinforced the notion that it is a continent of conflict. The UN peacekeeping budget for South Sudan alone is reported to run into many millions of dollars.
