China is officially atheist but has 300 million practising Buddhists. Other religions including Taoism, Christianity are also popular. And there are Hare Krishna adherents too. The odd thing is people may move from one religion to another depending on their circumstances and what they desire. So those opting for Christianity do so in the hope of being able to travel to America or Europe. Taoism rises in popularity during school examinations. Tibetan Buddhism is drawing a lot of attention and Beijing is trying to figure out why.
